Chantal Kreviazuk

I’ve been a Chantal Kreviazuk fan for a lot of year’s now- ever since her song “Surrounded.” A few years ago I met her at a meet and greet in a Borders Bookstore in Birmingham. She signed a cd for me and we took a few pictures together. As far as concerts go, I saw Chantal in concert once before a few years ago and although that concert was very good, this concert was definitely better by far. This concert seemed more as though it was a combination music show/intimate and interactive/comedy show. That’s right, I said comedy show. Perhaps because she is 6 months into her pregnancy (and showing a lot), Chantal spent time between songs telling various humorous stories as well as giving away a lot of personal information. One of the highlights was when she did a dead on impression of Celine Dion. She also discussed how she thinks its weird that every time she says she’s pregnant during a show people applaud. She said, “Its not like I did anything- I just lied there!” During her hit song “Before You” she did a parody of her own song changing some of the lyrics so that they would pertain to her pregnancy (Baby before you, I was only a size or two).

As expected, the music didn’t disappoint in the least. Chantal’s music live sounds just as good (if not better) then her cd’s. She belted out songs effortlessly and her piano playing was perfect. As far as “sit down” concerts go- this was definitely the best I’ve ever been to. We were pretty lucky to score 6th row tickets so we were very close to the stage. Thanks to Salman for the tickets.
